When I think about LUSH I am transported back in time to when I was not a mama of two and had time for luxurious, long baths. I was a huge fan of the LUSH bath bombs, including ones with flower petals that drifted off the bath bomb to float around you. Ah so pretty. Fast forward to today, and the thing that comes to mind for me is the clean-up of the tub after such a bath. Priorities change, right?
So bath bombs with flower petals are no longer my cup of tea but I am happy to hear that LUSH has continued to expand its product line to include products that might appeal to a woman like me.
One recent addition to its repertoire is its No Drought Dry Shampoo. Like other dry shampoos on the market today, this one claims to help refresh your hair between shampoos. It is designed to absorb some of the oils in your hair/scalp, and make it look like you have almost-freshly washed hair. The citrus scent of this product is so fresh and bright. I loves. The product itself has a talcum-like consistency, and in all honesty, is a bit cumbersome to get out of the container. The top flips up like a shampoo bottle, and you have to shake the product out. If you’re not careful you’ll get white powder everywhere. Did I do this? Uh, ya. Just a little shake is all it takes. To make the product work, I rub the product together on my hands and then apply to my scalp between layers of hair. While I think it does refresh my hair, the white powder does show through my dark hair. Not really a look I’m going for so the best thing to do I think is to apply sparingly and layer on as needed.
Next up is Jilted Elf, a green shower jelly. Since I’ve given up on long, luxurious baths, I’m all about having a good shower experience. This product seemed unique. You can keep it in the fridge or freezer or as is, and then basically smoosh it to lather up. The smooshing isn’t so easy it turns out. Yes, the product feels extra refreshing when you bring it out from the fridge but the consistency? Let’s say it’s like showering with chunks of green jello at your feet. Mmmmmm. Despite my smooshing attempt, the product kept falling down at my feet and I could not for the life of me get a good lather. I did enjoy the fresh scent though I can’t pinpoint what it is. Looking at the ingredients I’m intrigued to see Fig and Vodka listed. Interesting! Has anyone tried this before? What am I missing?
So while Jilted Elf was not my fave, another new product from LUSH is. It is Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner. This body conditioner contains cocoa butter, capuacu butter, almond oil and Argan oils — my skin feels soft just by reading that list. Similar to what you do with hair conditioner, you apply Ro’s Argan all over and then rinse off. With a consistency not unlike a body lotion, I have to admit it felt a bit strange putting this on and then then rinsing it off. But the rose smell is divine and my skin feels amazingly soft. The scent lingers long after the shower, in a soft subtle way. This is a definite winner of the bunch.
Overall, despite some misses, it’s been fun testing out LUSH and its products. If anything, it is a company that has fun with its products and is looking to provide customers like me with new experiences. And who knows, maybe someday I’ll be okay with bathing with flower petals again….
Do you have favorite Lush products? What should I try next?
