Where does more business opportunity fraud occur? Not long ago, an Internet Think Tank was looking into the question of Biz-op or Business Opportunity Fraud and the question was asked; "Between the US and Canada, where does more biz-op fraud happen?" Apparently, after looking into this and reading some of the notes by a self-proclaimed Biz-op, franchise and distributor law fraud specialist and attorney from Toronto, our research was confirmed.

It appears that Mr. Michael J. Webster, a lawyer and former University of Toronto, Faculty of Law Professor, who "practices commercial litigation, focusing primarily on franchise and distributorship law" as per his blog, is quite concerned with such fraud. However, what this gentleman fails to mention as he puts out detracting articles on the franchising industry is that Biz-op Fraud in Canada far surpasses that in the United States.

Unfortunately, what we have is another lawyer using scare tactics to promote their own endeavors. Now then, yes, it's true the both Canadian and US lawyers do this as they write articles scaring the public on their websites, blogs, journals, and newspapers, as well as giving speeches at colleges, business groups and to the public. And after each of these little blurbs is a statement like: "If you feel you have been a victim of fraud call us today!"

Why do so many lawyers from Canada, put their information out to US Consumers, when in reality the problems of fraud in Canada are so much greater by percentage than in the United States of America? Shouldn't there be a law against this type of hype and promotion? After all, who does it really serve when a foreign lawyer attacks an entire industry in another nation? Is it really fair for lawyers in general to proclaim expert status and use that to sell their lawsuits to the general public? Think on that.
