I love my beige eyeshadows but beige nails? I wasn’t so sure. But there was something about Essie’s Brooch the Subject polish that drew me in, and so I dove in and gave myself a mani. My first reaction? Wow that looks like concealer.  I was ready to remove it but decided to give it a chance. I’m so glad I did. Once it dried, I fell in love, and now I can’t stop looking at my nails. And oh yah, Essie’s official description of this polish is better than my ‘beige.’ It is described as a creamy cashmere cameo.

Brooch the Subject is part of Essie’s Winter Collection called Cocktail Bling. The collection is absolutely gorgeous in my opinion, and features the following colours:

Bangle Jangle – a lavender amathystSchool of Hard Rocks – a midnight malachiteCocktail Bling – precious pale grey jewelBobbing for Bobbles – deepest darkest sapphire (my next manicure!)Size Matters – a blazing hot ruby red (my Christmas nails!

I chose Brooch the Subject to try first because it was just so different from anything I’ve ever worn on my nails. I’ve had it on for a couple of days and not a chip in sight. I did need to do a couple of layers to get an even application but the effort is worth it.  To me, it looks chic, sophisticated and a bit unexpected during the holiday season. My 8 year old daughter, who is now sporting School of Hard Rocks layered with a silver Luxe Effects polish (review coming soon!), thinks the beige colour needs a bit of sparkle or bejeweling though. :-)

That’s what’s great about this collection I think — there is something for everyone. If there are any specific colours you’d like to see reviewed let me know! Otherwise, I’m going with Bobbing for Bobbles next.

Have you worn ‘beige’ nails before?
